Another Kick Ass Poker Blog Top Ten List: Recognizing the Sad Departure of Pamela Poker

I know, I know, I've been remiss. I let the closure of PamelaPoker, the Doyle Brunson Poker Network site endorsed by Pamela Anderson, slide by without an immediate comment. Truth be told, I've been working on a story that may turn out to be so hot that I can't even run it on this site, just to shield my good KAP bosses from potentially litigious matters.

But this post is about lighter fare, that being Pamela Anderson's one-night stand in the world of online poker. Okay, it was actually four months. I'm sure you were counting, too.

Anyhow, it looks as if control of the site, along with tens of players who signed up, will transfer over to Doyle's Room or one of the other DBPN (Doyle Brunson Poker Network) sites, which brings up an interesting point. I mentioned that Tribeca was pulling out of the U.S. market, but it'a actually a delayed pullout, six months down the road; Doyle's Room and the other U.S.-facing Tribeca rooms remain open at this time.

But the closure of PamelaPoker has been a goldmine for headline writers, if nothing else. My personal fave comes from The Register, who offered up this: "Pam Anderson's Poker Palace Goes Titsup". In a post at pokerblog.com, Poker Shrink, a.k.a. Dr. Tim Lavalli --- and hiya, Shrinky! --- served up "Pam Anderson (Poker) Goes Down!", and let's not forget the lowest-hanging fruit, as epitomized by this newKerala.com header: "Pamela Anderson's Poker Site Goes Bust!"

The only real content at PamelaPoker was a cheesy, sophmoric diary, which now includes this entry from Pam:

"Poker site should have been shut down last month. I have nothing to do with it anymore. Too many shady areas. I really don't want to encourage people to gamble. This must be turned off. It just didn't work out. Even in my heart. Good luck to Doyle’s Room. I love him. He is authentic to the game. I made a mistake getting involved in something I know nothing about for a quick buck! Yuck. So unlike me. Glad it's over."

So unlike you, sure. Well, since bingo is one of those activities pitched as "the next poker," rumors have her launching a line of B-I-M-B-O daubers. Okay, low blow... err, wait, we don't want to go there, either.

So how about a Top Ten list of headlines concerning the demise of PamelaPoker that'll now, and forever more, go unused? Wheeeee!
